I led the redesign of the Ragnar website, a bold digital overhaul that brought the brand’s legendary 200-mile overnight relay races to life online. My responsibilities spanned creative direction, UX/UI design, and close collaboration with developers to implement advanced coding features and a dynamic, personalized user experience.
Key Features & Highlights:
-
Home Page Personalization: Visitors are immediately engaged by selecting their race type, Road or Trail, which triggers a tailored experience, including geolocated event suggestions and curated content. By treating each race location as a “destination trip” it elevated the race appeal and encouraged broader participation.
-
Race Detail Pages: Each race page showcases stunning visuals of the course, geographically accurate maps, full leg-by-leg breakdowns, registration options, and social sharing capabilities making it as informative as it is inspiring.
-
Ragnar Store Integration: To streamline the race prep process, I designed a Road/Trail-specific shopping experience, complete with a built-in race finder panel to keep users in the event registration flow.
-
Race Finder Tool: I designed and directed development of a geolocation-enabled interface that helps users discover nearby races at a glance. Color-coded markers and flyout previews make it easy to register on the spot, while an “Upcoming Ragnars” section offers filtering and quick access to key info.
The new site blends intuitive design with technical sophistication, reflecting the adventurous spirit of the Ragnar brand while driving user engagement, registrations, and retail conversions.
